:: Reduce   Reuse    Recycle ::
:: Nixa Bands                                       Nixa, Missouri::
  • In honor of our 2009 marching show, "A Brand New World", the band program is hoping to promote responsible behavior regarding our natural resources.
    Soon you will be able to find facts and information on how you can make a difference, both in your home and by working within our band program.
  • Our show concept even promotes reuse.  We have "recycled" old tunes, including Dvorak's "New World Symphony", and combined them to create a new musical
    experience.
What are we doing as a band to make a difference?

  • Our band t-shirts are made of recycled material.
  • In the past each student has received their own set of drill charts, totaling around 13,500 copies, JUST FOR MARCHING BAND!!!  This year
    the students are using coordinate charts which put their entire show on one page.  Combine that with about 15 pages of thumbnail sketches
    and we have reduced our paper usage about 11,000 pieces of paper or about 22 reams.
  • When we travel we usually consume about 1500 drinks a season and then that trash is simply disposed of.  This year we will be bringing all
    of our trash home so it can be recycled.
  • We have a paper recycling bin in the band room.
  • We will be setting up a plastic bottle bin soon.
  • A Green Team has been established and will start meeting soon to discuss how we can expand our efforts.
